Maintenance of the Swimming Pool of your Tourist Accommodation

The swimming pool and the area surrounding it in a tourist accommodation are one of the areas preferred by guests of a local accommodation in order to enjoy their holidays with their family. Incorrect pool maintenance becomes a problem for the management of these establishments.

As a tourist accommodation manager, don't allow the pool to become a headache in terms of costs and time spent. Correct maintenance is the simplest and most efficient way to keep your pool in perfect condition and thus provide a positive impact to your customers.

The advantages of correct preventive maintenance

By putting into practice an organized and rigorous maintenance plan for the pool, which in peak seasons is used daily by hundreds of customers, this avoids hygiene problems and technical interventions in repairing the pool which have higher costs, in addition to the inconvenience for your customers.

This preventative maintenance of your accommodation’s pool allows you to:

  • Prevent the proliferation of bacteria and other microorganisms;
  • Keep the pool water crystal clear, pleasant and sanitized;
  • Keep away harmful algae;
  • Unwanted odors;
  • Keep your customers happy;
  • Reduce costs of corrective maintenance (repairs);
  • Free up your time for other tasks;
  • Comply with current technical standards and general recommendations.

What pool maintenance measures should you follow?

There is no single answer for all cases, which depends on different situations such as the location of the pool, the intensity of use, the surrounding landscape, the quality of the water, sun exposure, the characteristics of the equipment, among other factors.

But we recommend the following pool maintenance plan, which generally fits most accommodations and public pools with high usage.

Every 4 hours:

  • Check the water level;
  • Check the water temperature;
  • Check the chlorine or bromine level.

Daily:

  • Remove dirt and organic debris;
  • Check the water level.

Two to Three times a week:

  • Vacuum and brush the pool walls;
  • Clean the entire water line.

Monthly:

  • Perform a bacteriological analysis;
  • Clean the pool filters;
  • Check heavy metal levels;
  • Check the level of cyanuric acid;
  • Check alkaline levels.

The rigorous execution of this plan preventive maintenance, as well as its registration, will allow your hotel to maintain high levels of water quality and thus provide a better experience for your customers in addition to saving you unnecessary pool repair costs.
