What is the Armed Screen?

The Reinforced Screen for swimming pools is also known as Reinforced Liner or reinforced PVC membrane and is part of the pool coverings regardless of the structure of the pool itself. It consists of a high-strength polyester layer sandwiched between two heat-welded PVC (polyvinyl chloride) layers.

With an average thickness of 1.5 cm (100mm / 150mm) and its characteristics make it a waterproof and very resistant swimming pool coating, with a 10-year factory guarantee in the classic range, but there are screens on the market with 20 to 30 years already applied.

It is supplied in rolls of 25 meters by 1.65 meters, to be vulcanized in several pieces directly on the walls and bottom of the pool.

Reinforced mesh for lining swimming pools can be treated in a variety of ways:

• Fungicide and antibacterial treatment to prevent the proliferation of microorganisms and algae.

• If the welds are not made according to standards and by a professional may cause a water leak in the pool;

How is the Armed Screen installed?

The installation seems simple, but there is technical knowledge involved for its correct placement. Laying the reinforced pool membrane is carried out as follows:

• Cleaning and disinfection of the pool, which must be perfectly clean;

• Possible placement of a geotextile felt. It is especially indicated when the floor or walls of the pool have irregularities;

• Installation of the membrane on the walls;

• Fixing the membrane at the top of the pool on a rail under the edge or on a special sheet with a laminated PVC strip;

• Placing the membrane on the bottom of the pool;

• Modeling and installation of the membrane on the stairs.

The welding between the membrane strips is carried out by thermal melting with a hot air torch or solvent.

When the Reinforced Screen is installed in a concrete pool, it must not be waterproofed. Despite being sealed, there is always a phenomenon of exudation by capillarity between the support and the membrane. This very small amount of water must be allowed to run off.
